Meet Criminal Defense Attorney Sean Harrell
As a former Deputy District Attorney in Arapahoe and Douglas County, Colorado, I possess specialized insight into our criminal justice system. Due to the high volume of cases in courtrooms in Denver, Jefferson and Arapahoe Counties, prosecutors are forced to analyze cases quickly and make fast decisions that can affect unrepresented citizens for the rest of their lives. Many people do not feel they have a choice other than to accept the offer presented to them by the prosecutor. Years, months or days later they regret accepting an offer, but it is too late. Now as a criminal defense attorney, I use my knowledge of our jury trial system and plea negotiation process to help clients receive the best possible outcomes and make informed decisions. My goal as a defense lawyer is to protect your rights and educate you about the judicial system and consequences you face.
inner workings of the courtroom.
My Education and Experience
I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and German from Lipscomb University, a private liberal arts university in Nashville, Tennessee. After working several years in Nashville, I returned to school to earn my Juris Doctorate at the University of Denver, Sturm College of Law. My desire to serve the community led me to join the 18th Judicial District as a Deputy District Attorney. As a prosecutor, I managed hundreds of criminal cases in a fair, just and ethical manner. I successfully tried dozens of cases before juries, including cases involving domestic violence, child abuse, DUI’s, and sex offenses. I reentered private practice representing criminal defense and family law matters, before transitioning to full time criminal defense.
first-chaired dozens of jury trials.
How My Experience Will Help Your Case
My experience on both sides of the criminal justice system and with family law matters allows me not only to advise clients as to the penal system, but also to advocate on their behalf with an understanding of the wider collateral consequences to their personal lives. I aggressively represent the rights of my clients in Adams, El Paso, and Boulder County, and educate prosecutors as to ulterior motives of the complaining witnesses in domestic violence, child abuse and sex offense accusations. Don’t stand alone in the courtroom – work with a lawyer who has experience on the other side, and can offer expertise as your advocate.
As a former District Attorney, I have a unique perspective on the criminal justice system and will guide you expertly through the criminal justice system.
